Professional Interests:

  • The Bell 47Helicopters remain a big part of my interest in aviation, I have flown many different types commercially and privately, however my favourite is the Bell 47, known to most as the MASH helicopter with the bubble. This helicopter is great to handle and maintains your helicopter flying skills to the maximum, it's a bit of class..........

  • Aircraft  Parts - I have always been interested in this part of the business. I acted as a consultant for an aircraft broker during the 90's. I learnt more about the 'aviation business' then than I have ever learnt flying the aircraft. I traded in parts and even single handedly bought and resold a Boeing 737-100 to an operator in Singapore! I still have my shirt I'm relieved to say. A very volatile business with great capacity for saving your company thousands of dollars if an understanding is achieved.

  • Model Helicopters - A great passion of mine, a great technical knowledge is required about the theory of flight of helicopters. If you have an idea about improving or redesigning how helicopters fly then these models are great for applying these modifications. They do crash a lot though!

Personal Interests:

  • Charlotte, Andrea, Natasha, Katrina on our way to SpainWhilst at work my time is spent on professional matters, when I am off duty I spend my time with  the family, after all they deserve it after I have been away. The job puts great pressure on all families that have partners that do this job, I feel that it is vitally important to communicate at all times, and maintain your involvement at home even whilst you are away, regardless of the telephone bill!
With a work pattern of two months on and one month off (not ideal, a month on month off would be suitable for the family) it is normal for us to go on holiday three times a year. We have one adventure holiday, one holiday in Spain with the children and one holiday in Corfu with just the two of us chilling out on the beach reading. This allows us all to  spend time with each other. In the picture, from left to right is Charlotte, Andrea, Natasha and Katrina.
  • Website Designs - I have been designing websites since the world wide web came online. I designed my first web page using the original 10 html tags. I consider my first page now to be an antique. Website design is only the beginning, without a marketing strategy nobody will ever find the website. Main interests include designing aircraft management systems, writing business plans and scope documents for aviation orientated projects. My main computer language being Cold Fusion, a dedicated  web application server, that allows almost anything to be used on the internet. The forums being a good example of  establishing communications networks for a specific group of people. The most successful of these being found at www.kinsons.co.uk  where you can buy Oakley Sunglasses online.
  • Gardening and Bonsai Trees - A new found interest since starting my job in Saudi. During my time off I spend as much time outside in the garden as possible. Bonsai Trees have always been of interest and am slowly learning about this strange art. Latest update - The Bonsai's have died !!!!
  • Boating - When possible we try to get out on our boat a Sunseeker Offshore 235. Living in Bournemouth should give us plenty of opportunities to get out however it never seems to happen. One day maybe we will get more time.

  • The Stock Market - I have been interested in this for many years, with the onset of online dealing this has made the whole concept available to the world and especially pilot's that are away from home. I have a fairly basic strategy of 10% speculative, 40% general share trading and 50% Blue Chip type companies. The Blue Chip sector only being bought when a dramatic change from the norm occurs. One day when I have the courage I will have a go at DayTrading!!
